The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) was established by leading Indian pharmaceutical companies to serve as a unified voice for the industry.

1999

IPA helps shape India’s TRIPS position at the WTO, safeguarding public health priorities.

2003

IPA leads engagement on India’s patent law amendments during the shift to a product patent regime.

2005

IPA gains global recognition in policy and regulatory forums on IP, generics, and pricing.

2010

Led by IPA, a dedicated Quality Forum was established with the purpose of establishing the Indian pharma industry as a benchmark for quality and global excellence

2015

Partners with government on Make in India, API self-reliance, and affordability strategies.

2019

Plays a central role during COVID-19 — enabling vaccine access, ensuring medicine supply, and supporting emergency policy response.

2020

Hosts the first Global Innovation Summit with 3000+ attendees, outlining key imperatives to strengthen India’s life sciences innovation ecosystem.

2021

IPA members lead global biosimilar exports, marking India's innovation-driven growth.
